With the Holiday’s coming, we get so anxious and excited, overwhelmed, rushed and of course sometimes just plainly lost. I know I do anyway. From going to this persons house to that persons house and back down this highway, oh – let’s stop here, gotta see them…..I feel overpowered and rushed through it all. But, when the night falls and it’s time to stop and rest the body, I know I am blessed. I mean, think about it….how many people really have someone around that they can still go visit or call?

Do You Think U Can?

The only time “I” is in team is when you team up with Jesus Christ.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Phil 4:13

Do you think you can? God says you can. I remember when my children used to watch Bob the Builder. For the longest time I would repeat, “Can we do it? Yes we can”. That seemed to be the new focus. Of course at that age, you want them to start learning that they are capable of doing things themselves. So many times I have been told that same thing. “I” CAN do it. “I” CAN keep the focus and get the job done. “I” AM capable. But I also remind myself, “I” didn’t learn it on my own and “I” can’t do it on my own, BUT “I” CAN do it with Christ. I am so glad of that because “I” do good messing things up by myself, so why not team up with Jesus and do it right?

Many years ago I had a couple of ladies come to me and tell me that I needed to take on a certain position at church. I was so into the knowing that “I” can’t do that. I don’t speak in front of people, I don’t direct, I don’t know how to bring people together, “I”, “I”, and on and on. However, that very season, “I” couldn’t rest for God telling me – “YES, YOU CAN”. Not only was he telling me that, but He was also telling me how. He gave me ideas, suggestions, ways, and direction. I couldn’t sleep or focus on anything except this one thing. Finally one night I told God, “Alright. I get it. Just please let me get some rest. I am tired”. Peace came over me. I became so excited. I took that position. I still get nervous at times and it is a hard job for the most part. But, God has been there the whole time.

Don’t ever let the devil tell you “YOU CAN’T”, because with GOD “YOU CAN”. Stay focused on the job, trust in Him, and talk with Him and He will make it happen. It was a GREAT lesson to learn and I am glad I learned it. It not only works with the position I took on at the church, but it works with me each day throughout my daily works and living.

TODAY'S DEVOTION

How do you like moving? I am sure that everyone has moved at least once in there lifetime. It takes a lot out of you. Just the preparation of all of it is tiring. Getting the bills changed over, electricity, credit card statements, phone changed, schools changed (if in another district)…..and on and on. It takes a lot to move. Maybe you have moved because your spouse had to move with the job he / she has. Maybe you had moved away from home and now the parents have gotten older and you have to move back. Maybe your house was bought out so some large company to take your spot. Whatever the reason – moving takes a lot.

I love the thought that God has set for us an internal home. We may not live forever here, but we will live forever in 1 of 2 places. We may live forever with God or with Satan. It’s that simple. God tells us this in His word. And, guess what – it’s our decision. Moving from place to place here may be our decision or not (depending on the reason(s)). When we leave this place, we will spend eternity somewhere – heaven or hell.

I am so excited that God thought enough of me to want me to join Him when my journey here is done. How great it sounds to know, we will walk on streets of Gold, the walls that surround us will be precious stones. The gates will be pearl, there will be not darkness, for God is so bright – He will shine the light. He holds a book with my name and my life stories. That is scary just the same. My life story…..GOOD & BAD.

Revelation 21:7-8

⁷He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

Today's Devotion

As I sat and did my work this morning I thought about the “In the beginning….” from Genesis. Do you remember growing up and the story would start; “Once upon a time….”. That is what triggered these thoughts. Have you ever stopped to think that when this world ends, how will the next story start? Here is how I think it will read.

Once upon a time in a land called The United States of America, there were all types of people. There were people that believed in Christ, there were those that didn’t. There were old people, young people, children and adults. There were different colors of people, black, white, green, yellow….

See what I am saying. This world will come to an end. God tells us that there will be a new heaven and earth. Right now we can pick up our bibles and read the Old Testament and / or the New Testament. Do you think there might be another “so called” chapter? Maybe it would be called “The Rest of the Story” as Paul Harvey would say.

Some days I am ready to go and meet my creator and some days, I am glad it hasn’t happened yet. Do you wonder if “you” will be part of the next story? I know my walk isn’t as close to God as I would like for it to be; however, that would be pretty cool if I was part of the next story. Some days I wonder “what am I here for”, while others I know exactly what I am here for. I do know – God has a plan for me here and a plan for me later in Heaven. Isn’t that wonderful? To know He has our life already planned. I love the thought of that. Like I have said before, I don’t plan for much in my daily life so it is a wonderful thing to know God does plan.

Today's Devotion

If I was to ask everyone to raise their hand if they have lost their keys before, everyone would probably raise their hands. It "drives" me crazy when I can't find something I am looking, or remember "Why did I come in this room".

Well, here is what I do know and what I can remember; God loves us. He gave HIS ONLY SON to die for us so that we can live an eternal life. We don't have to die but once, and that is when we accept Him. Some beliefs are you have to be baptized and some beliefs are you don't. I believe that if Jesus got baptized then I should too. What do we gain when we put our faith and trust in Him? Well, security, power, peace, love, joy, courage, hope, not alone, forgiven, free, compassion, holy, thankful......and on and on I could go. With this I am reminded of 2 passages.

Hebrews 13:5
Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

1 Corinthians 13:13

Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.

Don't be afraid that you may be lonely or worried over something. Remember with God, you are NEVER lost~

If you were to label how many "BESTEST" friends you have, what would you say? 1, 2, 3 or maybe more? To say you have a best friend in today's world means a lot. Remember growing up with that special friend that you 2 were ALWAYS together? I had spells of friendships like that. What about today- is it any different? I would say that it would only take 1 hand to count those that I would consider the bestest friends of the best of all. WOW - that was saying a lot. Anyway, we all need friends. How would you label your friends or what type of friends do you need? Here are a few examples:

Hang Out Friend - the one that is always ready and on the go....let's have lunch, let's go shopping, let's see a movie....etc.

Cry on the Shoulder Friend - this is the friend that listens to your heart and walks you through your trials.

Intimate Friend - this is the friend that you want to hug you when you are hurting or laugh with you until it hurts.

The Talkative Friend - this is the friend you have that never lets you talk, but always has something interesting to talk about.

Tell Me The Truth Friend - this could be a combination of all the friends listed above, but this one definitely won't hold back. He / She will tell you what you need to hear but don't want to hear.

Can you say you have 1 friend that is characterized as these? I would like to say I do. I hope you have a BESTEST friend that you can hang with, talk with, cry with, yell with....etc. Get what I am saying?

What I want you to remember with this is that we all have a friend that has all of the characteristics for everything we need in a friend. His name is Jesus Christ.

How good are you at making a decision from all the choices you may have at hand? Don't ask my husband, he would tell you I am not good at making a decision on anything. As a matter of fact my youngest son and I decided we were going to open a restaurant called "I Don't Care" because every time we are asked "Where do you want to eat?" we always say - I don't care......We have done that so many times that now it seems to be a comical thing. When we are asked "What do you want to watch", we say "whatever". I think we should open a restaurant called "I don't care" beside a movie theater called "Whatever". Wouldn't that be cool? We have choices to make everyday:

what to wear

how to act

who to talk to

I know you may say - "I have to work". Well - NO not really.....not if you don't care to pay your bills or feed your children. I know a lot of times I hear people say, "All I have to do is live and pay taxes." Wooweee, I wish life was that simple. Sometimes life just seems to get harder, harsher, and all about the "I's" in the world. Whatever happened to knowing everyone in your community, or afternoon picnics with all the family over one Saturday? What ever happened to the simple things - like - sitting outside enjoying doing nothing, or waiting until the weekend to do the cleaning, or just taking time to visit a friend or watch that favorite movie you like? Man, I tell you, life has gotten out of control. I know it has in my house. Well when it really comes down to it - God has given us 2 choices - serve Him or Not~ It is that simple. Now - that is simple. He plainly tells us what we receive if we serve Him or choose not to. I hope that you have made the decision to serve Him. If you haven't - I hope that you may reconsider.

I set before you this day a blessing and a curse - a blessing, if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you this day; and a curse, if you will not obey the commandments of the Lord your God. Deuteronomy 11:26-28

Today's Devotion

This is my favorite verse. How great it makes me feel when I wake in the morning and feel yucky. When the days are shadowed with clouds and you just can't seem to find the sunshine; I realize that God has this day in control. No matter what aches and pains I have, what person makes me mad over silly stuff, what doesn't happen when I want it to happen, or any instance that seems to take control over me - I am reminded of this verse. This verse gives me comfort, security, strength, power and joy. Every time someone trys to take your day from you or say something to you that you don't like to hear, or maybe even ignore you, this is the verse to remember. I hope this verse will be an inspiration to you as it has been to me.

This is the day the Lord has made, we shall rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24

Today's Devotion

It is so easy for us to take something to heart or let it hurt our heart. It is hard to let God have our troubles and worries. But, He tells us in His word that we are not to worry. Give our concerns to Him and let Him handle them. When we worry or fret about something, it doesn't get fixed, taken care of, or even change. Not only does it not change, but we can't give it to God if we continue to carry it ourselves. Some of our worries can get the best of us and take over us. We will eventually become sick, depressed, withdrawn from friends, even create damage to our bodies. We should trust that God will take care of us. God wants to take care of us, after all He made us. Just like when we create something in our life we want ownership of that project. God made us and He wants to keep the ownership of what He created. Why worry today or tomorrow when we can give it to God and let Him take total control? To be honest; I want God to take all my worries and concerns rather than man. Why? Well, He is the creator and He is the "know all" and He is the only one that can fix, take care of, correct all of my concerns. Give it up, give it to God.

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. In today's world or society it is easy for someone to tell us what we should or shouldn't do, how we should or shouldn't live, who to hang out with and on and on I can go. But sometimes we need someone to just be plain honest with us and give us the answers we are not wanting to hear. Ex. You really need to loose weight, I am concerned about your health. Or, I heard you were buying a new car, well you may want to check into the information facts for those type of cars. I hear they have had a lot of recalls. Sometimes the truth will hurt and sometimes it will just totally set us free. So, what do I mean with all of this? With all of the hoopa lala's from others, be assured that God has everything under control and that only He can make things the way they are suppose to be and still give you peace. Trusting man or Trusting God~ where do you stand. Man is out form himself. There is no I in TEAM, but man likes to put one there. We are all guilty. At times we are looking for the I in team so we can make since of the I, ME, SELF and where the I, ME, SELF fits in. Be careful of these types of people and make sure you focus on NOT living that way. God loves a cheerful giver and those that give (time, money, worths, etc) without complaint will be rewarded in Great Ways. Here is today's devotion:

Today's Devotion

Be confident of this very thing, that he who has begun a good work among you will bring it to completion by the day of Jesus Christ. And I pray that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and in all judgement, that you may approve things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are from Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. Philippians 1:6, 9-11

We should hold fast and be assured that God has created great things in us and for us. If we stay confident and let Him work with us and through us great things will come. We all have gifts and it is our choice to either use them or not use them. However, God would not have created you or given you your gift if He didn't have faith in you to prosper and be successful in those gifts. The gift you have today may not be the gift you had 10 years ago, nor may it be the gift you will have 10 years from now. God changes our gifts as we mature in knowing Him and trusting Him and giving Him our ALL. I pray that you find your gift, find courage, and find peace with what God has given you. Be humble, be sincere and grow in knowledge through His word, The Bible.

Don't you just love how Wonderful and Majestic God is? WOW~ He sent his Son, Jesus Christ - here on earth to live a life as we do, and then to die, so we can live an eternal life as He does.

It is so wonderful and gives me peace and power. How can we look around our daily living and see the wondrous works God has given to us?

Look at a newborn child being born

See the flowers and trees come to life in the Spring

Watch good things flourish right before your eyes (a sickness be healed, a lost one be found...etc)

Feel the peace in troubled times

Watch how God will feed you and shelter you when the job is lost or finances aren't there

and on and on we can go.

How can we see these things? By opening our eyes and our hearts. God loves us and He is our salvation, our creator, our peace, our strength, our LOVE. Don't spend the day WITHOUT Him~
